"Never complain, never explain"
My first awareness of taxidermy was from my father. My grandfather was a duck hunting enthusiast and my uncle remains so. My great-uncle hunted deer. Their various residences are filled with trophies of water fowl. My great-uncle has larger specimens. My uncle has always had very eccentric tastes and for years he kept a Japanese weasel head on a carved wooden plaque in his home office. He eventually gave this prized possession to me. It is quite old and needs to be remounted on its plaque.
I'm not a hunter myself. I grew to appreciate lovely dead things through an old friend of mine, Sarita. She preserved dead squirrels and all sorts of beasties. One time I was able to get her a dead coyota that had been roadkill. Imagine our delight When my sister called and said she had a dead skunk for us.
My taste in interior design were influenced by watching the Addams Family as a child. I yearned for a house like theirs. I favor more Victorian clutter than the clean lines of Modern architecture (where do you put the socks on the floor in a Modern home?)
I enjoy natural history, anatomical art, antiquarian books, fashion history, and cooking. I am facinated my dime museums, moulages, freaks shows, side shows and medicine shows. I also read up on the history of patent medicines.
